Health
Staff can assist clients with applications to the Kentucky Prescription Assistance Program, eye exams and prescription eyewear. Please contact your local MPCAA office for more information.

Food
Food boxes are provided on a monthly basis to eligible senior citizens over the age of 60 in Bullitt and Spencer Counties.
Fresh produce is provided in Spencer county weekly.
Spencer County distributes Temporary Food Assistance Program Food Boxes monthly. Call 502-477-8296 for distribution dates.
Emergency Food Boxes are distributed throughout the month in Spencer County. You can receive four (4) Emergency Food Boxes in a fiscal year. (July 1-June 30)

LIHEAP
LIHEAP (Low-Income Heating Energy Assistance Program) provides assistance for heating expenses during the winter months. The Subsidy component operates from November through December. Participants must meet income guidelines and be the responsible party for their heating expenses. The Crisis component operates from January through March or until the funds are expended. To qualify for the Crisis assistance the participant must meet income guidelines AND have a disconnect notice OR be within 4 days of having no heat. As of November 2, 2020 we are operating the subsidy component of our program. Weatherization provides energy related repairs to help lower heating and cooling expenses. Repairs may include fixing or replacing the heating system, adding insulation and stopping air infiltration.

Community Winterhelp is a 501(c)3 charitable organization composed of agencies in the metropolitan Louisville area. Founded in 1983, its mission is to assist low income families with utility bill assistance during the winter months (January through April) to assure that families have heat in their home. In partnership with LG&E, Community Winterhelp funding is comprised of donations from LG&E customers. LG&E provides a 25% to 100% donation match per dollar donation from LG&E customers made throughout the year.

The WinterCare Fund was established in Kentucky in 1983 when local Community Action Agencies and Utility Companies partnered to address the needs of low-income Kentuckians. The program is targeted to people who are not eligible through other heating assistance programs and have demonstrated financial need. Currently 31 utilities and 22 Community Action Agencies serving 119 of the state’s 120 counties participate in WinterCare, which is managed by the Community Action Council for Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison and Nickolas Counties and administered by community action agencies.

The program will provide a maximum benefit of $200 per client.

- Applies to Louisville Water residential customers residing in Bullitt County.
- Household income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.
- Applicants must be in danger of disconnection or have been disconnected.
- Applicants are eligible for one benefit per 12 month period.
