Health

Staff can assist clients with applications to the Kentucky Prescription Assistance Program, eye exams and prescription eyewear.  Please contact your local MPCAA office for more information.

If you have a loved one that needs an exterior wheelchair accessible ramp built at their home, you may contact the Shelby County office.
​  **This program is only available in Shelby County. ** 

Food

Food boxes are provided on a monthly basis to eligible senior citizens over the age of 60 in Bullitt and Spencer Counties.
Fresh produce is provided in Spencer County weekly.

Spencer County distributes Temporary Food Assistance Program Food Boxes monthly. Call 502-477-8296 for distribution dates.
Emergency Food Boxes are distributed throughout the month in Spencer County. You can receive an emergency food box on a monthly basis.  

Community Needs Assessment 
Multi -Purpose Community Action conducts an annual Community Needs Assessment that asks what our communities need the most across seven domains of service.
The Community Needs Assessment helps MPCAA DETERMINE where to focus our efforts and dollars so that we can give our communities what they really need.

LIHEAP

LIHEAP Fall Subsidy began on November 3, 2025.  This is a one-time Subsidy program. Disconnect notices are not required. Please make your appointment through our online scheduler at http://mpcaa.itfrontdesk.com or our automated phone scheduler at 1-502-317-0120.  
Participants must meet income guidelines and be the responsible party for their utility expenses. You will be required to bring social security cards or permanent residence cards (green card) for everyone who lives in the household, your utility bill that you wish paid and the prior months income for everyone over 18 in the household in order to apply for services. If you have Social Security/SSI, you will need your 2025 Award Letter.  ​

Community WinterHelp                  

Bullitt County Only - Community Winterhelp is a 501(c)3 charitable organization composed of agencies in the metropolitan Louisville area. Founded in 1983, its mission is to assist low income families with utility bill assistance during the winter months (January through April) to assure that families have heat in their home. In partnership with LG&E, Community Winterhelp funding is comprised of donations from LG&E customers.  LG&E provides a 25% to 100% donation match per dollar donation from LG&E customers made throughout the year.

Goodwill Vouchers

Our agency has partnered with Goodwill to provide vouchers to families in need.   If you find yourself in need of clothing, toys, or home goods, please mention to the Family Support Partner than you need a goodwill voucher.

WinterCare

Shelby, Spencer and Bullitt counties
The WinterCare Fund was established in Kentucky in 1983 when local Community Action Agencies and Utility Companies partnered to address the needs of low-income Kentuckians. The program is targeted to people who are not eligible through other heating assistance programs and have demonstrated financial need.  Currently 31 utilities and 22 Community Action Agencies serving 119 of the state’s 120 counties participate in WinterCare, which is managed by the Community Action Council for Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison and Nickolas Counties and administered by community action agencies.

Louisville Water Company

**Bullitt County only**
Funding is being provided by Louisville Water Foundation.
The program will provide a maximum benefit of $200 per client.
Eligibility requirements:
  • Applies to Louisville Water residential customers residing in Bullitt County.
  • Household income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.
  • Applicants must be in danger of disconnection or have been disconnected.
  • Applicants are eligible for one benefit per 12 month period.
